The hard way to remove duplicate songs in iTunes is doing it manually, with the risk of eye and neck strains. Also, don't forget the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome. To do this:
Click "File" on the Menu bar, and then click display duplicates. iTunes will display tracks which have resemblance is file name, size on disk or track length, meaning they are not necessarily the duplicates you want to find. Now, you really have to be careful before your delete a track because you might also erase the file on the hard disk. In some cases, deleted tracks cannot be recovered.
If you have sufficient time to waste, then try listening to the tracks and make sure you don't delete tracks with quality (usually, this is easy to figure out by checking out how many kbps the file runs on, for example, a 192 kbps file has more quality than a 96 kbps file, but this is not always the case).
Delete the tracks which are duplicated. Now, you might have thousands of them, so please, if you want to save your time and all your efforts, resort to the second and easy way to automatically deduplicate iTunes.
The easy and most convenient way to erase your double is by using a reliable software that specializes in iTunes management.
