My Honest Review of Sonic Producer

I run a small music company and we aim to promote young, unknown musicians in our area by giving them the opportunity to play in front of small crowds to showcase their talents. Most of the people we come across are short on finances and could not afford costly music instruments. The bands which we promote are thus encouraged to use software resources to fulfill the gap. Sonic Producer is one of the many websites which can help people produce good quality beats as either background music by making quick beats or replacement of their instruments like keyboards, drums or guitar.
The ability to quickly make beats provides an immense potential for young artists. There is no shortage of ideas that these people have. It is just impossible for them to translate them due to non-availability of the proper equipment. The Sonic Producer portal provides people with access to equalizer and sequencers. There are some good instruments emulated through the portal. Entire beats of one instrument can be made with little overhead. The ability to start with one and then others as a tempo builder gives a nice edge.
Good music requires a sense of taste and a good ear to listen to it and evaluate its effectiveness. There are training materials available which teach the background of how to make good beats to be used by a musician. Along with a wide variety of beats pre-made and incorporated at the touch of a button, this portal is extremely useful even for seasoned players.
Everything is accessible through a web browser. This leads to the possibility that the resource can be accessed from anywhere, anytime. If on the move, with no setup in sight and a quick idea which needs to be put to review, people can just use the portal to materialize their thoughts and listen to their creation to fine tune it to their needs. There is a facility for exporting music you create to mp3 format for download.
The problem with the portal is that it is essentially barebones. There is no context sensitive help available and sometimes it can be overwhelming to use. They should also improve the exporting ability to use open source standards like Ogg for downloading. The site is heavily biased towards drums and keyboards and more emulated instruments should be added. Over all a nice resource which can use an uplift to be more popular.
